My reflection about my lesson
My reflection.
As warm up
we sang the song 1.2.3.4.5 once I caught a fish alive. Here in this song,
students learned two new irregular verbs and learned once more the question and
negative form of past tense. Then I asked fat questions about the song. Why did the boy let the fish go? What happened
to him? Why did he do that? Students answered that perhaps he got the golden
fish and asked for 3 wishes and then let it go. It was fun discussion around
the song and then students thought that they caught a golden fish and thought
about 3 wishes. Majority of students wishes were about seeing their family and
friend healthy and sound, having peaceful country, and going to America by Flex
program. It was fun. Then our new topic was the story about the businessperson
and the fisherman. First we listened the story two times and filled the blanks
then we read and translated each sentences from English into Tajik in groups.
Then students described the Fishermen’s daily routine and the life of a rich businessman. Students
explained what was the advice of businessperson to fisherman through questions
and answer. Students came across with exclamatory sentence and the teacher
explained and gave some examples. In
the story was one example: what a wonderful tuna! Students practiced the pronunciation
of these sentences and gave their own sentences. As homework students will read
and will retell the story with their own words and think about the moral of
this story.

Fat Questions
Yesterday I attended a mini-workshop conducted by English language Specialist Mis Lynette about fat and skinny question. at the beginning of the presentation when she asked what do you like to be fat or skinny? I said skinny of course. Then in the middle of presentation, I changed my mind and wanted to be the way I am now.

I work very hard that my students develop their thinking skills and when I ask them to question I teach them to think a little then answer, But most our students do not want to think they answer very fast without thinking even if I give them time to think. But I keep trying to ask fat questions in every reading text. I give them questions to think. I asked fat questions when we read a tale about Husnigul a girl. My example of fat questions was: can you describe two worlds where did Husnigul live? what is your opinion about Khorgul a bad girl? what do you think about this: beauty isn't in appearance but in deeds? etc
This is a classroom I'd like to have where students think about the question and the teacher gives thinking time and then students raise a hand.
