Fat Questions

Yesterday I attended a mini-workshop conducted by English language Specialist Mis Lynette about fat and skinny question. at the beginning of the presentation when she asked what do you like to be fat or skinny? I said skinny of course. Then in the middle of presentation, I changed my mind and wanted to be the way I am now.
Fat questions are
(higher-order thinking skills,
longer answers)
Skinny questions are:
(lower-order thinking skills,
short answers)

I work very hard that my students develop their thinking skills and when I ask them to question I teach them to think a little then answer, But most our students do not want to think they answer very fast without thinking even if I give them time to think. But I keep trying to ask fat questions in every reading text. I give them questions to think. I asked fat questions when we read a tale about Husnigul a girl.  My example of fat questions was: can you describe two worlds where did Husnigul live? what is your opinion about Khorgul a bad girl? what do you think about this: beauty isn't in appearance but in deeds? etc

This is a classroom I'd like to have where students think about the question and the teacher gives thinking time and then students raise a hand.
